An LLM abroad does not let you practise abroad
Law is tied to one country’s rules in a way medicine and engineering are not. A funded master’s in London or New York teaches you that system; it does not admit you to it. Every bar has its own requalifying route, and that is a separate fight after the degree.

Each row links to the guide that covers that route in full. Where a route sets no single date, this page says what decides yours.

Open to African applicants only
Three of the fifteen routes in our law guide are regional. They stay on this page because they keep appearing in search results, and because a reader should learn the limit here rather than halfway through an application.

One question to settle before you apply. Ask the bar or law society in the country you are aiming at what an overseas LLM counts for, and get the answer in writing. Some let you sit a conversion examination, some require local practice first, some do not recognise an LLM at all. The answer changes which of these schemes is worth your year, and nobody on a selection panel will ask it for you. Confirm every date on the funder’s own page before you apply.
