Educators & Teaching Scholarships

Half of the famous teaching awards give you no degree

Teachers apply to Fulbright FLTA and to Humphrey expecting a master’s. Both funders call their programmes non-degree in writing. You get nine months or a year in a United States university, a stipend and a professional placement, and you come home with a certificate. That is a fine year. It is not a qualification, and your promotion board will treat it differently.

Writing your personal statement

Education panels want one classroom you changed, in detail, not a philosophy of teaching.

Documents

One line that decides a teaching application. Name the school, the number of children and the thing that went wrong. A panel reading four hundred statements remembers the teacher who wrote that thirty-one of her forty students could not read a clock, and what she did about it over one term. It forgets everyone who wrote that education transforms lives. Confirm every date on the funder’s own page before you apply.
